Las Cruces, New Mexico farmer's market, and The Vagabond Tabby.

Kate from The Vagabond Tabby sent me a present! Squee! Thank you! Soap is so mmm.

The basil lemongrass smells like waking up in the garden, but without the hangover. Lady Vagabond leaves me feeling conflicted. Suds up, or bite it? Luckily, the bar is generous enough for both, so the answer is yes.

Cheryl and I hit the Las Cruces farmer's market hard.

Cheryl suckered them into posing, and I swooped in for the click.

They were covering REO Speedwagon. Imagine it.

We're enjoying wifi and hi-test at Spirit Winds right now.

Another blogger reports earning $500 - $600/month through her Amazon link. Please allow me to fall over in a graceful swoon. I wish her only the best and HOLY MACAROONS! I just want to report that this is an order of magnitude more magnitudinous than my experience. I ♥ my experience! Such blazing success is not the norm, though, in case you wonder.

Calvin from Facebook tells us that the Habitent also fits the Honda Insight, and that TailVeil offers butt-tent options for other models.

Dang, I only earn pennies from Amazon. Must be doing something wrong. Fun looking market.

Meh, I don't do the Amazon thing. I get my humiliation elsewhere, thanks.

I need to start putting warning labels on that damn soap. DO NOT EAT THE SOAP. THE SOAP IS NOT FOOD. I DON'T CARE HOW MUCH THE SOAP SMELLS LIKE FOOD, IT IS STILL NOT FOOD.

Sounds as tho you're likin' it in LC. Didja buy any chili peppers?

Fabulous color on your pictures. Envy coming your way from hazy Alabama. Sounds like things are good. Glad for ya! I have no Amazon income so yours is millions more than me.

Great pic of the red peppers:)

Wonder if I could hang a ristra in our rig? I think I'm asking a little too much here as we don't even have slide outs. Hmmmmm... But... aren't they beautiful!

Vagabond Tabby - okay, ya got me on this one. Here I am waiting to read about a cat riding the rails or some such tale/tail. :)

We haven't been on a train yet, but Loiosh (the tabby in question) and I have driven all over the country for craft shows and such. He's my Vice President of Marketing -- I haven't found much that'll get people into your booth like a friendly cat on a leash.

I'm saving up to buy an RV and take the show on the road permanently -- Loiosh loves travelling, and so do I, but I need a little more sleeping space than he does and the Saturn just isn't enough, especially when I've got most of it filled with soap...

I've always loved those hanging peppers but I don't think I have room in my van for them.

Dragonfly said...

Regarding the picture with the peppers. How did you get that man to wear the peppers on his head and then dance?

Pam and Wayne said...

Not the first to comment on ole Pepper-Head. Damn.

Steven said...

You guys hit that market so hard it turned that guy's head into a ball of chili peppers.

Lisa said...

Pepper Head!

Roxanne said...

Lisa, Steve, and Dragonfly: It's a trick of the light. The guy actually had fabulous chile dreads.

Mary, how about a giant bunch hanging from your rear-view?

Sharon, same as Mary. How much windshield do you really need, anyway?

Thanks, Chuck and Anneke!

Sherry, I'm making a billion times more ...no, wait ... a trillion times more... no, that's not right ... A LOT more than you are from Amazon.

No chiles, Nickie! Crazy, right?

Kate, it's too late for the warning label. *bubble*

Bob, even though TC WORKS FOR AMAZON??? No? The CIA!!! No? May I suggest that your humiliation threshold is WAY too low?

Hmmm, Gaelyn. We need to confer with this super-successful blogger.

Well, I have a few Amazon links and I admit that I am aaaaalmost earning $1 a month. Our cats usually eat that up in one meal.

Love those NM Farmer's markets and chili's....I have a "strand" hanging in the rig here.

One of the best things about travelling is stopping at local farmers markets!

SHE" is successful with Amazon because she has an average of 1,000 hits a day and we all love her, we all want to see her do well! Look at her blog objectively, see what she is doing that you are not! Perhaps if you, Cheryl, Nina and Gaelyn follow some of her tactics, you just may end up with a better income!

I apologize if posting my earnings is offensive. I've been very open on my blog about my income and expenses as one of my purposes is to help people see if full-timing is possible for them when they have a small income.

When I posted about my monthly earnings, I did so because 1) I was thrilled! and 2) It's part of my effort to be open about money.

I have no exit plan. Some day I'm not going to be able to travel in my trailer. My van and my trailer will fall apart. I need money for my second retirement. I hope you don't begrudge me earning some through Amazon.

I wasn't bragging, although now I see that you thought I was. I figured you were making as much or more from Amazon. When I reported my Amazon income I said something about other bloggers wanting to make that money, too, so they would start up with Amazon. I said I knew this would cut into my earnings, but that's okay with me because all bloggers deserve to be rewarded for the work they do.

Now my blog has been suspended. I'm told someone instigated that. I refuse to believe a fellow blogger would be that mean-spirited.

Thank you for not eliminating this comment. I appreciate the opportunity to clear this up. RVSue

Look at her blog objectively, see what she is doing that you are not! Ouch, Geri. Let me lay down lower so I'm easier to kick. Of course we want to see her do well. But, if bloggers think they're all going to support themselves on Amazon, they'll be disappointed. This is my point.

Sue, I most certainly did not instigate any investigation. I think that's just plain bad karma, and I think the universe is plenty abundant for all of us. I didn't think you were bragging, but I am jealous! Because I don't have an income, success like yours would feel like a windfall.

It makes sense to show other people what they can expect to earn if they take to the road. In that vein, I felt like I should be the wet blanket who explains that that kind of success is atypical, like weight loss at Jenny Craig.

Roxanne said...

Mary, I love farmer's markets!

Nina, $1/ month is also not typical! :o) Push it harder and you can easily hit $2 - $3/month.

To sell anything you must engage your audience. RVSue gets 50 comments to each post and makes an effort to answer each follower. Loyal followers click her links ... Amazon pays ... Sue wins.

Thanks for your reply, Roxanne. I felt like you were making fun of me. Maybe because you dropped me from your blogroll. That's okay! I'm going to get my skin thickened at the Skin Thickening Spa.

I have pointed out several times on the main part of my blog and on the "money pages" that Amazon income should never be depended upon. Look at what happened to me. I'm not making a cent now that my blog is gone. Oh well, at least I didn't get hit by a tornado.

Roxanne said...

Sue, I am so sorry you felt I was making fun of you. And, I am in a personally-bad place right now, and somehow I missed that your BLOG is gone. That is bad, and I would never wish that for you, or anyone. I am very, very sorry.

My blogroll is a odd melange. There are lots of blogs not there. I do tend to favor blogs who reciprocate, but there is no logical rubric for who I put there. Truthfully, I thought you never bothered coming here and would certainly never be hurt, or even notice who might or might not be on that roll.

Happy Trails said...

Roxanne, I was not trying to kick you! No need to be defensive! I was trying to say perhaps if you use a different marketing method ya'll might be making more than a few bucks a month. Did you ever take the time to really see how Sue did it? She works at it and keeps it interesting! It's not just a badge on her page!
You don't expect to go to a job and just sit there and collect a paycheck, it requires an honest effort on your part!

Roxanne said...

Geri, of course you weren't trying. It's just that I'm already down there, and your boot is already so close. Please step over me. Obviously, Sue is doing something very right. I am sorry I sounded so sour-grapes. I want us all to succeed. My point is that the Amazon situation is not created equal for everyone.

Happy Trails said...

Apology accepted, boot backing off! Now you work it girlie and you get rich too! I don't bother because I only blog once or twice a month
and you and Sue have far more readers than I do!

Roxanne said...

The thing is, I don't want to work it. Most of us buy things at Amazon, and I'm okay with saying you might oughta buy it here, if you can't find it in a dumpster. I don't want to sell things, and I don't see Sue pushing consumerism, either.

So, Mick, I hear you saying I ought to respond to commenters. Noted! Thanks.

I have to admit I'm a little "puzzled" why I was "called out" in a comment by Happy Trails along with other bloggers???

Happy Trails said...

Simple, you were the first that mentioned Sue's unbelievable earnings altho you didn't mention her by name we knew it was Sue you were speaking of.Gaylen mentioned she wasn't earning much either and neither was Nina. my main yhtust of an idea was to do more of what Sue does if you want success. I just tried to help by sharing how Sue has become successful with Amazon and her tricks would probably help you. Please be aware life is what it is. If you want money, work at it, don't critisize others because they got ambition and a plan. Putting badges on your blog ain't gonna mean nothin to nobody! You gotta sell it to your readers! It's called work. Doesn't matter if you are selling amazon or avon... you are only gonna get what love and energy you put into it. I'm done. If ya'll ain't got her figured out ny now...... I'm going to bed!

Roxanne said...

I could be wrong, Geri, but I don't remember Cheryl mentioning Sue, indirectly or by name.

Sue, who has felt most directly impacted by this conversation, has been respectful and civil in her responses. Your comments are condescending, rude, and dismissive to me and to other commenters who have just stopped by to be kind, and have no dog in this fight.

I have never known you to be this way - you have been kind and generous in past discussions - so I am thinking that you are simply unaware of how you are coming across to me in this conversation.

Happy Trails said...

Sorry, actually I was hoping to help you see how to expand sales with Amazon using some of RVSue's methods but I obviously did offend you instead. I am fiercely loyal to my friends! I apologise also to Cheryl. Backing off now!
