Max the Cat was rehomed and dehomed all within an hour. He's back. Such a nice boy. I can't believe he blew his probation in less time then it took us to get back home.

I blame bad prep, vaccination crankiness, and a small person walking past at the wrong time. No, listen, I'm trying to tell you. This thing went by - it was hideous! Big head, tiny body, huge eyes! "KITTYKITTYKITTY" ... creepy! I took it down, though. No thanks required. Hey, can we go back there tomorrow night?

He has shamed us, and now I can't walk on McLallen Street anymore.

Two rehomed, two back. I feel despair creeping in.

It's simple, well, not simple, but obvious. Noone gets them like you do. Not Stanley, certainly, and apparently not the little person that attacked Max. Don't give up - remember, the first girl that left you is happy where she is - you just need to find the right place for them. Everyone is defensive in a new place, but maybe Max just needs a new place where he won't be harassed by little people until he's settled in. Because we know he's a mild-mannered guy.

Maria, you're right about the right place. I just despair of finding that "right place" for four, or probably five, cats. What you and MG did for Carat was extraordinary - no one could have done more - and still the situation couldn't be made to work. Sometimes it's just like that.

This situation wasn't even in the same realm as the prep you put into it. They're nice people, and I know they would have given Max a good home, but they really didn't put much thought at all into the set-up. I should have pushed not to make the transfer the same day he had his shots, and they should have put him someplace sequestered off and away from the little girl. Even a day or two could have made all the difference.

Sigh. I'm trying not to obsess over this. It feels like a mountainous problem, so I'm going to pretend it's not there so it gets bored when it sees me not paying attention to it and decides to move on.

I agree, just ignore it - in the future, you will know what to do differently. All of your fur-babies are so sweet and loving, you will eventually find the right place for them. Who knows, maybe the right place is around here, maybe it's out in the west, maybe it's somewhere on the way, could be anywhere.

Yes, very true. I need to relax into it.
